“Bringing Somaliland a reliable, modern and concrete solution to build its future.”
In the early 2010s, while leading an international SME in Europe, I visited Somaliland and witnessed firsthand the rapid growth in the construction sector. Buildings were rising quickly, demand was soaring, and development was accelerating. Yet, concrete production remained largely manual, unregulated, and inefficient — a clear gap that limited progress and increased costs.
Recognizing this unmet need, I took the bold step to launch Somaliland Concrete Company (SCC), the very first modern ready-mix concrete and aggregates provider in Somaliland, committed to delivering quality, reliability, and compliance with international standards.
Initially, many doubted the vision. Attempts to secure co-investors were met with skepticism, but undeterred, I committed to building SCC from the ground up. Starting with a 150 tph crusher and later expanding with a 450 tph crusher, along with an 80 m³/h batching plant in Berbera, SCC pioneered modern construction materials supply in Somaliland.
Today, SCC operates successfully in Burao and Berbera, with expansion underway in Hargeisa, including a new 180 m³/h batching plant. The growing number of competitors in the market only confirms the foresight of this initiative and underscores the sector’s immense potential.
In 2025, we proudly launched Cullinan, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCC named after the world’s largest diamond — symbolizing our commitment to excellence, quality, and integrated construction solutions.
Under the one-stop shop concept, SCC and Cullinan offer comprehensive, customized services — from aggregates and ready-mix concrete to machinery rental and turnkey project management. This integrated approach ensures efficiency, innovation, and reliability at every stage, making us the preferred partner for Somaliland’s construction industry.
With a current capitalization of $5 million, SCC stands as a leading, forward-looking company dedicated to supporting Somaliland’s sustainable growth and modernization.
I am proud to be driving this transformation and to contribute to building a stronger, more resilient Somaliland.
